Surat: The 23-year-old female teacher and her 13-year-old student, who were missing from Surat since April 25, were caught near the Gujarat-Rajasthan border in the early hours of Wednesday. When investigation revealed that the teacher engaged in physical relationship with the minor multiple times, the police invoked the Protection of Children From Sexual Offences Act (Pocso) against her, an action rarely taken against a woman. The teacher and boy were apprehended near Raigarh village.
After leaving Surat on April 25, they went to Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Delhi, and Vrindavan before they were caught near the Ratanpur border from a private bus. Puna police registered an offence of abduction on the complaint lodged by the boy's parents. Deputy commissioner of police Bhagirath Gadhvi told TOI, "They boarded a private bus from Jaipur and were caught near the Ratanpur border.
During the investigation, it was revealed that the teacher abused the boy by engaging in sexual relation with him several times at the places they visited since April 25. The teacher and the boy boarded the Amalner-Vadodara bus on Friday evening from Surat bus depot. They stayed at a guest house in Vadodara where the teacher engaged in a physical relationship with the boy.
On April 26, they left for Ahmedabad by bus and arrived at the main bus depot. From there, they went to Kankaria Lake and spent some time together before leaving for Jaipur in a private sleeper bus at night. After reaching Jaipur, they visited popular tourist places, including Hawa Mahal.
They took a sleeper coach bus to Delhi at night and visited markets in the national capital before leaving for Vrindavan. In Vrindavan, they went to Prem Mandir and a water park. From there, they returned to Jaipur and took the bus for Ahmedabad on Tuesday evening.
The police will add section 4 (penetrative sexual assault), section 8 (punishment for sexual assault), and section 12 (sexual harassment of a child) of the Pocso Act against the teacher, along with section 127(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (wrongful confinement for more than three days). The teacher lived on the third floor of the apartment in Parvat Patiya, while the boy's family lives on the second floor. The boy's family hails from Rajasthan, while the teacher is a native of Mehsana.
