The third quarterback is off the board in the NFL draft. Former Oregon Ducks quarterback Tyler Shough , who most recently starred at Louisville, is headed to New Orleans after the Saints selected him with the No. 40 pick in the draft on Friday.

Shough completed 62.7% of his passes for the Cardinals last season, throwing for 3,195 yards with 23 touchdowns and six interceptions. Shough played at Oregon in 2019 and 2020 before transferring to Texas Tech for three seasons and then finishing his college career at Louisville.

“A piece of me is with each school,” Shough told The Oregonian/OregonLive at the NFL combine. “Oregon, Texas Tech and Louisville. I wouldn’t be who I am without them.

It’s a really hard question to be like, where do my loyalties lie? Because I’m rooting for Oregon whenever they’re playing. I’m rooting for Tech and all those guys. Obviously Louisville, that I’ve got to play with them.

” Shough became the highest-drafted player to have transferred from Oregon, surpassing running back Trey Benson, who went to the Arizona Cardinals in the third round last year (pick No. 66). Shough left Oregon in January 2021 after the Fiesta Bowl, when he split playing time with Anthony Brown.

The first quarterbacks off the board in this draft were No. 1 pick Cam Ward (to Tennessee) and No. 25 pick Jaxson Dart (to the New York Giants).
