GIRLS SOCCER: Oologah completes perfect regular season, locks up district title

A clutch finish from Kalley Hogue sealed an unforgettable Thursday night for the Oologah girls soccer team, and an even more historic regular season.In a battle of unbeaten teams, Hogue’s second-half goal, combined with another suffocating defensive performance, lifted the Lady Mustangs to a 2-0 victory over Rejoice Christian at Mustang Stadium.With the win, Oologah (14-0, 8-0 District 3A-4) secured a perfect regular season and clinched the district championship.

Rejoice Christian dropped to 10-1 overall and 6-1 in district play.Layney Molini put the Lady Mustangs on the board first, scoring off an assist from Kailee Seaba with 25:34 remaining in the first half. Hogue later added the insurance goal off a feed from Molini at the 31:53 mark of the second half to ensure Oologah’s historic run continued.



Goalkeeper Sam Sappington turned in another brilliant showing between the posts, recording eight saves for her 13th shutout of the season. She was backed by a rock-solid backline anchored by Lyla Thomason and Sage Duff, with outside backs Avery Duff, Avlynn Hill and Rylen Walters locking down the edges.In total, the Lady Mustangs have outscored opponents 89-3 through the regular season, surrendering goals to only Catoosa while showcasing a level of dominance rarely seen at any level.

The defending Class 4A state champions — now competing in Class 3A — will open their title defense Monday, May 5 against Rogers County rival Inola in the first round of the playoffs..
