Gojo Satoru or Ryomen Sukuna: Who is the strongest? ‘Jujutsu Kaisen’ creator explains

Well, not many will agree with Gege Akutami.Well, not many will agree with Gege Akutami.

Despite being rude and childish, Gojo Satoru was the master of infinity in ‘Jujutsu Kaisen.’ Whenever he set out to fight, Gojo didn’t just defeat his enemies but he humiliated them. Why? Because he could.

Gojo’s battles were always ultra-flashy and entertaining. He didn’t need an elaborate plan to take on his opponents as his absurd power would allow him to do the impossible. The bad guys underestimated the rest of the cast, but never Gojo Satoru.

Even Ryomen Sukuna, the strongest socrerer of the past, the user of Malevolent Shrine, a guaranteed-hit ability that can slash apart anything until nothing but dust remains, didn’t take Gojo lightly. Most of the villains were focused solely on containing him, because they knew keeping Gojo at bay was the only way they’d succeed. Moreover when Gege Akutami first introduced us to Gojo Satoru, he was this invincible sorcerer, the user of Six Eyes, who with his Ryoiki Tenkai (Domain expansion) could manipulate infinity and kill any opponent within the blink of an eye.

#jjk271 The best. The greatest. You shall never be forgotten, Gojo Satoru.

Even though the ending of ‘Jujutsu Kaisen’ remains consistent with Gojo dying at the hands of Ryomen Sukuna, the debate who is the strongest between Gojo and Sukuna continues to persist. But thanks to creator Gege Akutami, he has finally given us some resolution, though many might not agree with it. Gojo dies in chapter 236, when Sukuna effectively expands the usage of his newly acquired ability Mahoraga to cut through Gojo’s Infinity, thereby killing him.

What is Mahoroga? It is a summoned shikigami, both uncontrollable and powerful. When Mahoraga endures an attack, it takes up some time to process the curse energy, however, this indirectly also speeds up its ability to counterattack. gojo nation it was an honor to believe with you til the very end 😭 see you on the other side #jjk271 pic.

twitter.com/Kh8uOmZzB8 — nia ★ (@gentIemadman) September 26, 2024 Since Sukuna knew he had no way to surpass Gojo’s Infinity, he merely uses Mahoraga as a medium to neutralize Gojo’s curse energy and nullify the effect of his Infinity. Then counters his move wih a world-slashing dismantle.

Surprisingly, his target wasn’t Gojo but the space around him. Just by being present in the space, Gojo’s body was cut into two halves causing his brutal death. Now, Gege Akutami, in a statement via @Go_Jover on X, explained Gojo’s defeat was because of his lapse in judgement.

Sukuna didn’t surpass Gojo’s combat abilities but merely caught him off-guard with a sneaky yet dangerous attack. At that moment, Sukuna was smarter, stronger, and much more precise on the battle field. “After defeating Mahoraga, Gojo thought that Sukuna had no way to bypass his infinity anymore.

I think that the usual Gojo would've sensed that something was amiss & could've avoided a fatal wound,” said Geke Akutami. What do you think? ALSO READ| ‘Jujutsu Kaisen’ final chapter was a stinker. There, I said it!.
