VACAVILLE – More than 30 Cub Scouts and their families recently spent a Sunday afternoon fishing at Spring Creek Ranch in Vacaville. The ranch is owned and operated by former Michael D. Johnson, the former Solano County county administrator.
He is a longtime supporter of scouting and is a board member for the Vacaville Boys and Girls Club. "For many Cub Scouts, this was their first fishing experience and they were ecstatic with the opportunity to practice the fishing skills they learned in their Scoutreach afterschool Cub Scout program," organizers of the event said in a statement. "Scouting enriches communities across a broad spectrum of socioeconomic factors, preparing youth to make moral and ethical choices throughout their lifetime.
Solano Scoutreach brings Cub scouting to local elementary schools as an afterschool program serving mostly underserved communities. The Solano Scoutreach program is chartered by the Charles Wood Family Foundation," organizers said. The schools involved in this April 6 fishing trip were the Suisun Valley K-8 and Dan O.
Root Elementary. To learn more about Solano Scoutreach Cub Scouting, contact Mike Moffat at (707) 408-8445 or visit charleswoodfamilyfoundation.org .
