To address this, Google has announced an extended repair program offering free battery replacements or other forms of compensation. However, eligibility depends on where you live and whether your device is still under warranty. This may cause: A swollen or thicker-looking phone The back cover bulging or coming loose Rapid battery drain or charging failures These problems can affect how the device works and may even pose a safety risk. Free battery replacement If your device qualifies, you can receive a one-time free battery replacement. But there are some conditions—phones damaged by water, sharp objects, or drops might not be eligible.
If your screen or back glass is cracked, Google might charge a fee to repair those parts separately. Battery replacements are currently available at walk-in repair centres in countries like the US, India, Canada, the UK, Germany, Japan, and Singapore. Mail-in repair options are also available in the US and India.
