The Android 16 release date is being pushed by Google this year and this event suggests the company is ready to show us the real deal. Google I/O 2025 is less than a month away but it seems the company is not waiting for the developer event to showcase some of its new products. Google has confirmed a pre-IO event in May called The Android Show, where we could probably get our first official look at the Android 16 version.

The Android Show: What We Expect The Android Show is unlikely to be just about Android 16, and we could see the new TV version from Google also, the Wear OS 6 version and its features. Google is planning for an earlier Android 16 release date this year, which means the company needs to be quick with its beta and public updates. The Android 16 beta has also given us a teaser of the new features that will be coming to a host of devices over the next one year and some of them could be very useful for millions.
Besides the obvious AI upgrades, the Android 16 version also could have a new way to unlock your smartphone which will be equally safe and privacy focused. The latest Android 16 beta 3 update has been tested with older Pixel 6a and 7 series models and the screen unlock updated option works even on them. We haven’t heard much about the new features coming to Google TV with Android 16 and the Wear OS version but we should get a good idea about the details at this special event.
