ISLAMABAD - Following the policy of adhocism, the federal government has once again extended the tenure of Member Finance in Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) for just “one month.

ISLAMABAD - Following the policy of adhocism, the federal government has once again extended the tenure of Member Finance in Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) for just “one month.” “The federal government has been pleased to extend the contract appointment of Muhammad Naeem Ghouri as Member (Finance), Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), under Cabinet Division, for a period of one (1) month wef 30.04.

The authority comprises a chairman/chairperson and three members; including Member (Gas), Member (Finance) and Member (Oil). However, the regulator currently works on adhocism as majority of the incumbent office-bearer of the authority are working on extension.



Earlier, Chairman OGRA was granted extension of one year in tenure, while member Finance was granted several extensions, and the post of member gas is currently laying vacant. Similarly, the tenure of the incumbent member oil OGRA was extended for another term. Chairman and members are being appointed by the federal government through a competitive process on tenure basis in accordance with the provisions of the OGRA Ordinance. The tenure of Member Oil was expired last year, however, he was granted another term by the government. Member Finance had also been granted three months extension, which was further extended for another three months till the end of February 2025.

Now once again Member Finance has been granted extension. The post of Member Gas OGRA is already vacant and has been advertised multiple times. The vacancy for Member Gas was advertised for the third time, but no appointment has been made yet.

It is worth to mention here that after failing to appoint a permanent chairman for the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), the federal government extended the tenure of the current chief regulator by one year.
