The Ministry of Health and Population is preparing to implement a digital system that will consolidate all health-related information of citizens under a single platform. Health Minister Pradeep Paudel has initiated the development of an integrated digital medical system through the creation of a 'Unique Health ID' that will store individuals' complete medical history. To take the initiative forward, the Ministry on Wednesday formed a recommendation committee led by Dr Saroj Sharma, Chief of the Quality Measurement and Regulation Division.

The committee includes representatives from the Policy, Plan and Monitoring Division; Law and Judgment Enforcement Division; Department of Civil Registration; Health Insurance Board; Confederation of Nepalese Industries; and IT Consultant Shashankshree Neupane. Ramesh Raj Subedi, Director of Information Technology at the Ministry, will serve as member-secretary. The committee has been tasked with studying the methods, processes, and algorithms for creating the health ID number.

It will also examine the integration of existing government-issued identity documents, such as the national ID and health insurance card. Ministry spokesperson Dr Prakash Budhathoki said further steps will be taken based on the committee's report and recommendations..
