In just over a month, the Balcombe branch of the Ouse Valley Practice will permanently close its doors. From 1 June 2025, all medical services previously offered at the Balcombe site will be relocated to the practice’s main surgery in Handcross. The closure follows formal approval from NHS Sussex Integrated Care Board (ICB), which granted the Ouse Valley Practice permission to shut down the Balcombe facility.
Patients were notified of the decision last month. All patients currently registered at the Balcombe branch will remain fully registered with the Ouse Valley Practice, and their medical records will be automatically and securely transferred to the Handcross surgery. The decision to close the Balcombe site is believed to be part of a broader effort to consolidate services and improve efficiency, ensuring that resources are better concentrated to meet patient needs.
