New week, new films. Friday saw the much-awaited release of Emraan Hashmi starrer Ground Zero and Pratik Gandhi, Patralekhaa’s controversial film Phule. While the fans of the actors had been excited to finally watch the film on the big screen, it failed to create as much buzz on social media and gain traction from the audience.
Despite garnering positive reviews from the critics the films have yet to pull a significant number of crowds to the theatres. The movies have earned Rs 1 crore and Rs 24 lakhs respectively. 63%. However, there was a considerable increase during the night shows with a 14.06% occupancy.
While the Tejas Prabha Vijay Deoskar directorial day one earning surpassed the numbers of Superboys of Malegaon (Rs 50 lakh), it failed to beat the earnings of Loveyapa (Rs 1.15 crore) and Azaad (Rs 1.5 crore), which has tanked at the box office.

The film managed to find itself in controversy even before its release. For those who don’t know, Phule delves into the life and struggles of social reformers Jyotirao Phule and his wife, Savitribai Phule.
A section of the Brahmin society had called for protests against the film’s release.
