High school roundup for April 18, 2025: Neshannock softball stands alone atop section

Jaidon Nogay doubled and drove in two runs and Callie Biondi had a double and an RBI for the Lancers (12-0, 9-0). Ivy Pancher had two hits and an RBI for the Spartans (9-4, 6-2).

Indiana 4, Freeport 1 – Samantha Martin struck out 17 in a complete-game win and helped her own cause with a double and an RBI to lead Indiana (4-9, 3-3) to a Section 1-4A win. Kylee Cass went 2 for 2 with a homer and Addie Stossel doubled for Indiana. Lauren Clark doubled for Freeport (4-8, 1-6).



New Brighton 14, Freedom 0; New Brighton 24, Freedom 3 – New Brighton (4-6, 3-4) swept a Section 1-2A doubleheader with Freedom (0-12, 0-9). In the first game, Kylee Kwidis threw a five-inning three-hitter with 10 strikeouts and went 2 for 2 with a double and four RBIs for the Lions. Liza Lambert tripled twice.

In the second game, Dixie Wall went 2 for 2 with a double and five RBIs, Kwidis singled, doubled and drove in four runs and Julia Boffo went 3 for 3 for New Brighton. Emily Lawrence tripled for the Bulldogs. Valley View 14, Thomas Jefferson 3 – Winning pitcher Abbi Call went 4 for 4 with two home runs and four RBIs to lead Valley View (9-1) to a nonsection win.

Allie Chalovich had two hits and two RBIs for Thomas Jefferson (6-4). Chartiers-Houston 8, Yough 5 – Aaron Walsh singled, doubled, tripled and drove in four runs and Dominic Cumer had a double and an RBI to lead Chartiers-Houston (6-4) to a nonsection win. John Steban doubled and drove in a run and Hayden Eicher had two hits and an RBI for Yough (2-7).

New Castle 7, Moniteau 1 – Winning pitcher Joshua Pounds struck out nine in a complete game, Phillip Laurenza doubled and drove in two runs and Alex Rodgers had two hits and an RBI as New Castle (5-9) picked up a nonsection win..
