The manager of a Bolton off licence which closed after 35 years in business hopes the store will "reopen in the future". D&R News and Off Licence has been a staple of The Haulgh since it first opened, but closed its shutters this year. Vishal Trivedi, 34, has grown up with the Bradford Street shop, which was started by his parents Dilip and Rohini Trivedi.
He said: “I’ve grown up with the shop, and seen a lot of changes over the years. “It’s been good, we’ve been a sweet shop for 35 years and we were helping out in the community in that time. “We’re hoping in the future we can open again – it’s just been hard.
D&R News and Off Licence on Bradford Street (Image: Newsquest) “But our customers have been very good to us, it’s not really ideal to be saying goodbye but we hope in the future we can do something. “It’s not something we wanted to do, and we're hoping we can reopen in the future.” Mr Trivedi took over the managing of the store four years ago, after his mother died.

uk Opening in 1990 as a newsagents and sweet shop, the business expanded its range over the years. Mr Trivedi said their "proudest memory" was when they started selling National Lottery tickets and scratch cards in 2008. He said: “Quite a proud moment in the family – it gave our store a future in 2008.

He said: “I just want to say thank you to everyone who has supported us over the years. “We've had so many good memories selling sweets and everyone's been very happy with us and welcoming.
“We are so thankful to everyone who has shopped with us.”.
