This substantial fee reflects the spike in his earnings as compared to Pakistan’s entertainment industry, where he reportedly earns Rs 15 to Rs 20 lakh per television show and Rs 2 crore per film. In contrast, Vaani Kapoor, the film’s lead actress, was paid approximately Rs 1.

Adding to the controversy, sources within the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting have confirmed that Abir Gulaal will not be permitted to release in India, citing the involvement of Fawad Khan, who was previously barred from working in the country after the 2016 Uri attack. Although the ban on Pakistani artists was lifted following a Bombay High Court ruling, the Pahalgam attack has reignited calls for restrictions.
