pic.twitter.com/JEV9xflT5I — All Indian Cine Workers Association (@AICWAOfficial) April 24, 2025 The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has taken a firm stance, calling for a blanket boycott of Pakistani artists in India, a move reminiscent of their 2019 directive following the Pulwama attack.

FWICE General Secretary Ashoke Dubey emphasised the organization’s position per Times Of India, stating, "The film Abir Gulaal was set to release on the 9th. Vivek Agarwal, the producer, was sent a letter from us. We also wrote to the Minister of Information and Broadcasting.

We made it clear that you cannot work with Pakistani artists in this manner." Adding to the controversy, sources within the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting have confirmed that Abir Gulaal will not be permitted to release in India, citing the involvement of Fawad Khan, who was previously barred from working in the country after the 2016 Uri attack. Although the ban on Pakistani artists was lifted following a Bombay High Court ruling, the Pahalgam attack has reignited calls for restrictions.
