When Cape Cod Academy and Sturgis West met on the tennis court on Wednesday, one team was going to emerge still undefeated while the other was going to have to leave with their first loss of the season.The match itself did not disappoint as the Seahawks (9-0) battled to a 3-2 victory over the Navigators (4-1).The Seahawks collected a pair of wins in singles, led by Ayden Naydenov, who defeated Francisco Garcia Raya 7-6(5), 6-1 in second singles.
Garrett Wilson defeated Robert Muhov 6-2, 6-2 in third singles. Connor Hall and Declan Livingston defeated George Foster and Thomas Nutbrown in a three-set thriller (6-7(4) 6-3, 6-0) to clinch the match.The Navigators' Ray Zhang defeated Ben Catalano 6-0, 6-3 in first singles, while Mason Smith and Caleb Smith defeated Henry Daigle and Rowan Lewison 6-4, 7-6(4) in second doubles.
In other high school sports action:Boys Tennis Monomoy 5, Barnstable 0: The Sharks (9-1), who are the second-ranked team in Division 4, collected their seventh sweep of the season. Roman Pavluchenko defeated Dean Coredeiro 6-0, 6-1 in first singles, Ryan Casey defeated Harry Baroni 6-0, 6-1 in second singles and Zach Shields defeated Seymour Singh 6-1, 6-3 in third singles. Patrick McMahon and Blake Noonan defeated Kaleb Jones and Chase King 6-2, 6-1 in first doubles, and Ethan Seufert and Thomas Hereford defeated Moses Winslow and Stephen Hurley 6-1, 6-0 in second doubles.
Nauset 5, Dennis-Yarmouth 0: The Warriors (3-4) stopped a run of four straight defeats with a sweep of the Dolphins (3-6), who have lost two in a row since their three-game win streak came to an end. Lucas Wilson-Bevington defeated Landon Richter 6-3, 6-1 in first singles, Will Murphy defeated Collin Caron 6-2, 6-1 in second singles and Lucas Patton defeated Michael O'Reilly 6-1, 6-3 in third singles. Wyatt Carroll and Ronan O'Brien defeated Ryan Clarke and Aidan Karras 6-0, 6-1 in first doubles, and Soren Jones-Carlson and Asher Woods defeated Matt Anderson and Ben Soltis 6-2, 7-5 in second doubles.

Ellie Pennington defeated Victoria Chbash 7-5, 6-3 in third singles. Leah Thomson and Zoe Treitman defeated Alexis Christian, and Phoebe Hodgson 6-2,6-2 in first doubles and Tessa Schulz and Ella Moran defeated Kirkland O’Leary and Liliana Pariseau 6-2, 6-1 in second doubles.
Maia Ledwell defeated Laina Dubin 6-4, 6-0 in first singles, and Genevier Maranchie defeated Charolette Marshard 6-4, 6-3 in second singles for the Clippers (3-5).Monomoy 5, Barnstable 0: The Sharks (7-2) won their fifth straight match, which includes three sweeps in that stretch. Anjali O'Brien defeated Kelsang Gurung 6-0, 6-1 in first singles, Sophia Votteler defeated Lia Adames 6-3, 7-5 in second singles, and Haley Jackson defeated Maddy Stewart 7-6 (7-4), 6-0 in third singles. Faye Adams and Chloe Hand defeated Maddy Burgess and Aimee Teague 6-1, 6-2 in first doubles, and Callie Murphy and Addie Kelsey defeated Willasia Thompson and Alan Carnegie 6-0, 6-0 in second doubles.Baseball Cape Tech 12, Bristol Aggie 1: The Crusaders (2-3) are back in the win column after three straight defeats with a league win over Bristol Aggie.
Nolan Baker pitched three innings, surrendered just three hits and one earned run to go with four strikeouts. He helped his cause as he recorded two hits, three RBIs and scored twice. Mike Shea closed out the last two innings with a pair of strikeouts.
Conner Gent went 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBIs, and two runs. Will Mullin tallied a trio of hits and RBIs. Jackson Otis had two hits, two RBIs and two runs.
Falmouth 5, Dennis-Yarmouth 4: The Clippers (7-3) improved to 3-1 in Cape and Islands league play behind Tre'Chaun Days, who pitched a complete game. He allowed just six hits, two earned runs, walked three and struck out six. Jack Frostholm went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Connor Scarpellini was 2-for-2 with two RBIs.
Brody Palmer went 1-for-2 with a huge sacrifice fly in the sixth inning to give the Clippers a 5-3 lead, which wound up being the decisive run scored.Hudson Campbell pitched six strong innings for the Dolphins (7-3), where he allowed just two earned runs. Ben Rondina went 2-for-4 and scored a run.

The Lions put up 11 runs in the second inning to pull away. Logan Our went 2-for-2 with two RBIs.
Our and Colin Buckley combined for the no-hitter with just three walks and nine strikeouts.The Navigators (0-5) are still looking for their first win of the year.Softball Upper Cape 14, South Shore Tech 5: The Rams (6-3) improved to 2-0 in league play behind Kaiya Thomas, who went 3-for-4, scored three times and drove in another run.
Amya Irving tripled to score a pair of runs and Kenley Thomas and Jaelynn Harraden each tallied two RBIs. Defensively, Taysia Lopes shut down the Vikings with 10 strikeouts. The Rams infield was magnificent, throwing out runners all over the field, including Lucy Pesta.
