PLAINS TWP. — Dominick Zangardi pitched the first five innings to get the win and helped his cause at the plate with two hits, including a home run, to lead Dallas over Wilkes-Barre Area, 9-5, on Wednesday in Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 baseball. PLAINS TWP. — Dominick Zangardi pitched the first five innings to get the win and helped his cause at the plate with two hits, including a home run, to lead Dallas over Wilkes-Barre Area, 9-5, on Wednesday in Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 baseball . The Mountaineers trailed, 4-2, going to the top of the sixth inning when they scored six runs.

Connor Healey had two hits and an RBI, while Dylan Geskey had a hit, an RBI and two runs. Alex Hufford had two hits, including a double, for Wilkes-Barre Area. Jake Howe also had two hits with one of them a double.



Hufford, Dalton Flowers, Howe and Omar Jerez each drove in a run. Hazleton Area 14, Nanticoke Area 0: At Hazleton, Dom Marino homered, scored one run and drove in four while Chris Knelly had two hits, including a double, and one RBI, in Hazleton Area’s win over Nanticoke Area . Nick Ledger had two hits and one RBI for the Cougars, while Ryan Welch had a single and two RBIs.

Gavin Perkosky pitched the first three innings to get the win. He struck out seven, walked two and did not give up a hit. Treyton Mishanski had the only hit for Nanticoke Area.

Pittston Area 11, Crestwood 1: At Mountain Post Legion Field, TJ Johnson scattered five hits over five innings to get the win, and Elijah Mead had a double and three RBIs as Pittston Area improved to 13-0 . Silvio Giardina had two hits, scored two runs and also pitched the final two innings. Beau Widdick had a single and two RBIs.

Elijah Barr had two hits and two RBIs. Pittston Area scored five runs in the top of the first and outscored their opponents, 45-4, in the first inning this season. Jack Rodgers had two hits and one run for Crestwood.

Berwick 8, Valley West 6: At Spartan Stadium, Cole Phillips scattered three hits over five innings and struck out eight to get the win as Berwick defeated Valley West . It is Berwick’s second win of the season and first in Division 1 of the Wyoming Valley Conference. Phillips also had a single and one run.

Francis Yosh had three singles, four RBIs and one run. Jacob Lisnock had a double and drove in one. He also pitched the final two innings, striking out one and working around three walks and three hits.

Berwick led, 8-3, going to the bottom of the seventh, but the Spartans threatened, scoring three runs on a home run by D’Vonte Rivers. Kenneth Craig had a double and two RBIs while John Richards had a single, an RBI and one run. Softball Berwick 11, Hanover Area 6: At Berwick, the Bulldogs had three players with three hits as a six-run second inning propelled Berwick to the WVC Division 2 victory .

Ashlyn Klahold, Makayla Brown and Morgan Siegel all had three hits. Klahold had three doubles and drove in three runs. Caitlin Vigorito and Roxy Brandolino each drove in three for Hanover Area.

Wilkes-Barre Area 16, Scranton Prep 1 (4 inn.): At Wilkes-Barre Area, Kayce Martin had three hits, including a solo home run, leading Wilkes-Barre Area over Scranton Prep in a four-inning win in nonleague play. Hope Burke added three hits, including two doubles, and two RBIs, while Alivia Mazurek and Madalyn McGuinness each had two hits.

Mazurek earned the win, recording one strikeout over two innings. Jordan Prushinski struck out four in two innings of relief. Grace McCormack paced Scranton Prep with two hits, while Abby Wilce had a hit and the team’s lone RBI.

Elk Lake 8, Wyoming Area 6: At Wyoming Area, Elk Lake scored five runs in the fifth inning, and added two in the seventh to pick up a nonleague win Wednesday . Josie Kivak had two hits and scored three times to pace Wyoming Area. Alexa Gasek had a double, single and one run, and leadoff hitter Addison Gaylord had two hits.

For Elk Lake, Marissa Horn had a double, home run and picked up the win in the circle. Leah Traver also added two hits in the victory. Boys track and field Lake-Lehman 96, Holy Redeemer 44: At Lake-Lehman, two Black Knights won multiple events as Lehman picked up the WVC win.

Bodhi Cronin was first in the triple jump (43-10) and 800 (1:59), and Tyler Lukavitch won the 400 (53.6) and 3,200 (12:25). For Redeemer, Andrew Chase won the shot put (50-9 1⁄2) and discus (148-7).

Northwest Area 94, Hanover Area 50: In Shickshinny, the Rangers had two athletes with multiple wins in a victory over Hanover Area. Wyatt Orlowski won three events — 110 hurdles (16.2), 300 hurdles (44.

5) and the triple jump (39-5). Caleb Clink won the 100 (11.1) and long jump (20-0).

Wyoming Area 106, Tunkhannock 44: At Tunkhannock, Wyoming Area won 14 events as the Warriors rolled past the Tigers. Lidge Kellum swept the hurdles, winning the 110 (16.3) and 300 (43.

4). Luke Kopetchny won the triple jump (43-4) and long jump (21-1), and Colby Walsh was first in the 1,600 (5:03) and 3,200 (11:45). Girls track and field Lake-Lehman 92, Holy Redeemer 52: At Lake-Lehman, the Black Knights won 11 events en route to the WVC victory.

Sophia Lenza was first in the triple jump (32-9) and long jump (16-6), and Alana Palmaioli won the 1,600 (6:10) and 3,200 (12:51). The Dougherty girls, Sloane and Kaeleen, also finished first in the shot put and discus. For Redeemer, Avery Chepolis swept the hurdles, winning the 100 (17.

2) and 300 (48.3). Northwest Area 111, Hanover Area 39: In Shickshinny, the Rangers won all but four events Wednesday in a WVC win.

Julia Hasinus was first in the 110 hurdles (16.2), 300 hurdles (51.0) and long jump (15-3).

Hartley Crawford won the shot put (28-8) and pole vault (9-0), and the Davenport girls, Addison and Hailey, combined for wins in the triple jump and 200. Wyoming Area 99, Tunkhannock 51: At Tunkhannock, Wyoming Area racked up second- and third-place points to edge past the Tigers. Taylor Gashi won the triple jump (46-6 1⁄2) and long jump (16-5 3⁄4).

Ella McKernan won the 300 hurdles (47.1) and 800 (3:05). For Tunkhannock, Jordan Porasky finished first in the discus (104-5) and javelin (98-3).

Boys lacrosse North Pocono 8, Wyoming Area 2: At North Pocono, Kellen Mapes scored three goals and had two assists while Ian Kamora and Gavin Phillips each had a goal and an assist in North Pocono’s win. Jake Laboranti, Wyatt Tucky and Patrick Dougher each scored one goal for North Pocono. Bruce Coolbaugh and Oliver Bolin each scored one goal for Wyoming Area.

Girls lacrosse Abington Heights 14, Pittston Area 1: At Pittston Area, Allie Rothenberger scored four goals, Morgan Davis scored three and Abington Heights defeated Pittston Area, 14-1, in a Wyoming Valley Conference win. Sadie Gilbert and Caroline Henderson added two goals for the Comets. Ashlynn Selden scored Pittston Area’s lone goal, while Sophia Montagna finished with 14 saves.

Boys volleyball Delaware Valley 3, Crestwood 1: At Crestwood, JJ Stec had 21 kills, three aces and seven digs, while Zach Koons had 35 assists for Crestwood in a loss to Delaware Valley, 31-29, 27-25, 22-25, 25-20. Tommy McLaughlin added 12 kills and five blocks for Crestwood, while Luke Joseph had 17 digs..
