Dallas girls earned a team championship, and Lackawanna Track Conference athletes smashed school records on a soggy Friday night at the Wyalusing Lasagna Invitational track and field meet. Led by two-time winner Julia Natitus, who took first in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 14.77 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 44.
69, Dallas piled up 104 points to finish ahead of Abington Heights, which had 76. Madison Hedglin won the 1,600 with a time of 5:00.90, and Grace Coyne won the 400 in 59.
44 seconds to also contribute to the title for Dallas, while Morgan Langdon won the shot put with a distance of 36 feet, 2 inches. Dallas finished its dominant night with a win when Coyne, Hedglin, Natitus, and Kaitlyn Keller won the 1,600 relay in a time of 4:03.87.
Abington Heights’ Reese Morgan ran a personal-best time of 2:20.76 to win the 800, and teammate Tomara Seid won the long jump with a distance of 16-6.5.
Elk Lake’s Gianna Tewksbury won the discus with a throw of 116-0, and Western Wayne’s Julialeigh Eldred won the pole vault with a height of 9-0. In the boys meet, Abington Heights swept all three relays and had an individual champion on the way to a second-place finish in the team standings with 67.5 points.
Troy won the championship with 74 points. Abington Heights’ 3,200 relay team of Jack Shoemaker, Hamza Mirza, Liam Peoples, and Joseph Grad won the gold in a time of 8:22.71.
The Comets team of DJ Rogers, Dylan Jaramillo, Lukas Ruane, and William Regan won the 400 relay with a time of 44.52. Abington Heights’ team of Rogers, Mirza, Jaramillo, and Joseph Pivirotto won the final race on the track in the 1,600 relay.
The group ran a time of 3:31.68. Rogers also had a win in the 200 with a time of 22.
93 to lead the Comets, who scored xx points to finish second to Troy, the team boys champion with xx points. Western Wayne’s Robbie Carrelle won the 110 hurdles in 15.60 and the 300 hurdles in 40.
49. Elk Lake’s Kendel Jones won the 3,200 with a time of 9:33.63.
Holy Redeemer’s Andrew Chase won the discus with a mark of 150-6, and teammate Joshua Cackowski won the 800 in 2:01.43. Record breakers Lakeland’s Emily Black broke two of her school records.
The senior finished second in the 3,200 with a time of 11:34.12 to break her record of 11:34.24 set last season.
In the 1,600, Black finished fifth and had a time of 5:18.53 to beat her record of 5:20.74 set last season.
Lakeland’s Kaylyn Davis set a school record in the girls javelin. Davis had a best distance of 120 feet on her first throw to break her mark of 118-3 set last season. She finished second in the event to Towanda’s Bryn Woodruff, the Godek Twilight champion, who had a personal-best mark of 140-5.
The two Lady Chiefs helped the team to a third-place finish with 66 points. They were also the top-finishing Class 2A team in the standings. Montrose’s Sadie Jones also broke her school record in the javelin.
The sophomore finished third with a distance of 112-10 to surpass her mark of 111-8 she had last week at the East Stroudsburg Red & Black Invitational. Jones also was part of Montrose’s winning 400 relay. She was joined by Avery Diaz, Carly Frey, and Gracie Dalton, and the Lady Meteors ran a time of 51.
39. Lackawanna Trail’s Avery Ronchi set school records in the 1,600 and 3,200. He had a time of 4:34.
24 and finished third. His time broke the old record of 4:36.24 set by Matt Kinback in 2016 and broke his best time of 9:56.
09 in the 3,200 from earlier this year with a time of 9:51.49 that landed him in fourth place overall in the race. Mountain View’s Michael Beach also set a school record in the 3,200.
He finished 11th and had a time of 10:12.26 to break his record of 10:16.71 set last season.
