Hakeem Baba-Ahmed Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, a former Special Adviser on Political Affairs to Vice President Kashim Shettima, has opened up on the reasons for his resignation. Baba-Ahmed said he could not just sit in the Presidency and be collecting salaries without working, hence his decision to resign. He recently resigned his position as the Special Adviser on Political Affairs to the president in the office of the Vice President.

In an interview with Arise Television’s Prime Time yesterday, Baba-Ahmed said: “It was a huge responsibility to be the Special Adviser to the president in the office of the Vice President, it depends if it was actualized in real life but it wasn’t, it was very frustrating. “The structure of the Nigerian presidency has been the same, maybe since 1999 or during the military time. “So much of what the number two does depends on the chemistry between one and two, the configurations, the power dimensions, nature of the cliques around the president, and it so much depends on what the number one does.

“If the president doesn’t feel that the Office of the Vice President is not Central to his success or useful, you just sit it out. We have seen that many times and basically this is what I met and left behind. “There wasn’t much to do, I wasn’t used to sitting idle and there was a lot to be done.

I have been involved and I could have offered my humble self and opinion but I wasn’t, I couldn’t just be collecting salary while sitting down and doing nothing.” See Video Below; I Had A Lot to Offer As Political Adviser to the President But Ended Up Sitting Idle And Watching Things Go Wrong – Baba-Ahmed You’re not given an opportunity to fix the issues or engage the president, who has all the powers.
