THE wife of The Alarm's Mike Peters has paid tribute to her beloved husband following his death at the age of 66. Mike, who was born in Prestatyn and lived in Dyserth, died in the early hours of Tuesday, April 29 from blood cancer. Tributes have been flooding in from around the world for the artist who first rose to prominence in the early 1980s with The Alarm, with hits including 68 Guns and Strength.
Mike was married to Jules, 58, for more than 35 years. The couple have two sons, Dylan, 20, and Evan, 18. Jules took to social media late on April 29 to say she had lost her "true love" and that she was "made for loving him.
" She thanked friends and fans for "loving him". Entitling her post, 'The kisser and the kisser', she wrote: "Whilst my heart is forever broken after losing my true love in the early hours of this morning, I remain committed to living the best life ever, in honour of our beloved Michael Leslie Peters, 1959-2025. "Thank you all for loving him so much.
"I was made for loving him. "Aged 19 he swept me off my feet and I never looked back. "We always joked that I was the kisser and he was the kissed.
.. He always had his eye on the next tune, the next adventure and kept me wanting more.
"He was my Alpha Male. "I have so much to share about our last few weeks together. I want to share because I have always shared and because I want to make sense of it all.
"Most importantly Michael Peters’ dying wishes were for us to be happy, to live our lives, to keep on moving forwards. "He told me the other day that he would always be in the other room. "We brought him home.
"He passed with us all by his side. "So tonight be happy. "Be happy that we were all able to love MLP.
"I will forever be his kisser and will do my best to fulfil all of his desires, heading into the next life. "Thanks for loving him so much. "Tonight he is Totally Free.
" During his lifetime Mike, along with his wife Jules, tirelessly raised awareness and funds for cancer research and care. The husband and wife duo co-founded Love Hope Strength, a cancer charity to encourage action around stem cell donation. Through its Get On The List campaigns, often publicised at rock concerts, the charity has added more than 250,000 people to stem cell registers worldwide.
The couple also staged huge fundraising events such as The Gathering, Snowdon Rocks and Zip World Rocks - just to name a small few. The talented lead vocalist and devoted campaigner, who supported U2 and Status Quo on tour and played with Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen, was first diagnosed with the blood cancer chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) more than 30 years ago, aged 36. Jules remained devoted to Mike, standing by his side throughout his treatment journey.
Over the past few months, she has been documenting their experience and the challenges of navigating experimental treatment on Facebook. Over the years Mike underwent numerous drug treatments and rounds of chemotherapy and tried experimental therapy to keep his cancer at bay. More recently, he underwent Chimeric Antigen Receptor T-Cell Therapy (CAR-T) at The Christie in Manchester in an attempt to cure his Richter's syndrome, a rare and aggressive blood cancer.
In March, Mike revealed that although CAR-T hadn't officially been able to cure him, it had "helped". The death of Mike was marked with a hauntingly beautiful song - 'Totally Free', penned and sung by talented vocalist himself. The raw song was shared via The Alarm's Facebook page.
In the tune, Mike sings lyrics: "It is a broken empty space to come back from", "there is no path to follow", "I'm free, I'm really free", "totally free.".
