For the last time, Ian De Leon paid homage to his late mom, Nora Aunor, at the necrological service held for the Superstar in Manila's Metropolitan Theater on Tuesday morning. Present with his siblings Lotlot, Matet, Kiko and Kenneth, Ian was the only family member who gave a speech at the event, where he said Nora’s legacy will forever remain in the hearts of the Filipino people.
Ito ay patuloy nananatiling buhay sa puso at kamalayan ng sambayanang Pilipino,” Ian said, as he thanked the National Commission for Culture and the Arts for conferring the title of National Artist in 2022 to one of the Philippines' longest-serving and iconic figures in the showbiz industry. In his speech, Ian said he and his siblings witnessed the unwavering love and dedication of Nora to her craft.
Mga kwentong Pilipino, totoo at makabuluhan,” he said.
Recounting his mom’s roles, Ian said that Nora played characters that were a reflection of reality.
Ending his speech, Ian gave thanks to Nora and her love for the arts. “Mabuhay ang sining! Mabuhay si Nora Aunor!” Ian ended. Nora passed away on April 16 of acute respiratory failure .
