Ian Rapoport on Jaguars and possibility of trading up to pick No. 2

Ian Rapoport recently discussed the idea of the Jaguars trading up to pick No. 2 in the NFL draft.

The Athletic's Dianna Russini mentioned in her 'what I'm hearing' pre-draft article that the Jacksonville Jaguars have "expressed interest in moving up."Ian Rapoport is now echoing those sentiments. With the Jaguars hoping to keep this draft "electric," as Russini was told, could they be trying to move up from pick No.

5?"My understanding is that the Jaguars will not be timid," Rapoport said. "They're going to be bold. They're going to do in a way what James Gladstone's mentor, I guess you would say, Les Snead did, which is be bold.

Could the Jaguars try to move up from 5 to, I don't know, let's say 2? "I know the Cleveland Browns have received some calls. Maybe they try at least from now until the beginning of the draft to make that leap. Maybe that's for Travis Hunter.

It would be bold. Would the Browns do it? We don't know. Keep an eye on the Jaguars.

Could they move up into the Top 2? I weigh in on the possibility with @TomPelissero. pic.twitter.

" However, Pelissero would continue and say, "There are not many players, not many picks in this league that don't have a price. Is there some kind of Godfather offer, involving maybe a player, involving multiple first-round picks, whatever it might be, that actually makes them think about it?"If moving up to the second pick is on the Jaguars' radar, presumably it would be for Travis Hunter, a one-of-a-kind prospect, who could give Jacksonville a boost at two positions of need, wide receiver and cornerback. During the league meetings, Liam Coen was asked about how Hunter and his ability to play two positions could be utilized.

“I think you have to be fluid as an organization,” Coen said via Jaguars on Sports Illustrated. "Because of his diversity, what he can do, the amount of snaps he plays."He's going to play both sides of the ball and that has to be an organizational buy-in from the coaches, the strength staff, the athletic training, sports performance, everybody has to be involved, as well as the coaches.

"The Jaguars making their way up to pick No. 2 seems unlikely. I also wrote recently that given Gladstone's history with the Rams and how quickly they reshaped their roster over two seasons, trading down versus up early on may be the route the Jaguars go.

With that said, the thought process and willingness of Gladstone to make this move showcases the flexibility and aggressiveness that the Jaguars are willing to operate with. This article originally appeared on Jaguars Wire: 2025 NFL draft: Jaguars looking to trade up to pick No. 2?.
