Scattered to widespread showers and storms look likely Thursday, some of which could become severe. A cold front will sweep across the state, bringing cooler and drier weather for the weekend.

THREATS The main threats include heavy rain and lightning, but large hail and gusty winds can't be ruled out. TIMING The front looks to impact Alabama as early as 2 p.m.
