1 Min Read India US Trade Talks Live: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US Vice-President JD Vance have welcomed the strong progress in trade talks between India and the United States. The two leaders met for almost two hours at the Prime Minister’s official residence in New Delhi. After the meeting, a spokesperson from the Vice-President’s office said that India and the US have officially agreed on the basic guidelines for their trade agreement discussions.

According to a statement from the US Trade Representative’s Office, “This announcement builds on the important steps taken since February 13, 2025, when Prime Minister Modi met President Trump and they decided to begin talks for a trade deal between the two countries.” US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer confirmed that the terms of reference have been finalised. These will guide the talks on fair trade.

However, he also raised concerns about the lack of equal treatment in trade with India. India US Trade Talks Live: India probably in a better position to strike a deal: Nomura Strategist Chetan Seth, APAC Equity Strategist at Nomura, believes India is currently in a stronger position than many of its Asian peers when it comes to securing a trade deal with the US. He said, “This morning, I was highlighted by a colleague of mine that if you go on Poly market, which is this betting website, which has lots of these surveys or poll questions, and you can put live money on the odds of a trade deal before July, for India has the highest odds around 70% when I saw this morning.

I think it makes sense. I am not sure whether 70% is the correct number, but I think it makes sense that India might probably be in a better position to strike a deal.” He added, “India looks okay, but that is not to say that stocks are out of the woods.

It is going to be choppy, the market might also consolidate, because at the end of the day, if let us say US equities is under pressure, the issue with India still is that we are at like 21-22 times. It is not a cheap market, so stocks are not out of the woods.” India US Trade Talks Live: Stay tuned for latest updates Good morning readers! Welcome to our live coverage of the India-US Trade Talks!
