The Indianapolis Colts are among a few teams who have "looked into" Ohio State quarterback Will Howard, according to ESPN.Jeremy Fowler and Dan Graziano emptied their NFL draft notebooks and discussed everything they are hearing. When on the topic of quarterbacks, Graziano mentioned that the Steelers have done a lot of work on Howard, and added that the Colts, Jets, and Raiders have looked into him as well.

"As far as midround options go," Graziano wrote, "Pittsburgh has done a lot of work on Ohio State's Will Howard. The Colts, Jets and Raiders also have looked into Howard, whose play in the College Football Playoff helped his profile."After four seasons at Kansas State, Howard had a career year with Ohio State in 2024, which included some highly impressive play in the College Football Playoffs, along with leading the Buckeyes to a National Championship.

Howard finished the year completing 73% of his passes at a whopping 9.5 yards per attempt with 35 touchdowns to just 10 interceptions, according to PFF.The Colts, of course, will have Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones competing for the starting quarterback role.

But in the first two seasons under Shane Steichen, they have rostered a third quarterback, and adding Howard to the mix would provide competition for Jason Bean and that roster spot. However, looking beyond 2025, until proven otherwise, regardless of who wins the starting quarterback job, there are going to be unknowns around that position for the Colts. While a team should never bank on a mid-round pick becoming more than a backup, when there are question marks, a team should give themselves as many options as possible--not to mention that continuously developing young players at the game's most important position is the prudent move, regardless of what the starting quarterback situation looks like.

"Even when we had Andrew (Luck) we brought quarterbacks in," Chris Ballard said on Monday via the team site. "I think you do that all the time. And we also, believe it or not, like we worked out a couple.

We went and visited a couple."I think you do that every year. The one thing you can see with the quarterback position now, you better get to know them in the draft process because you never know when it's going to come back around to you.

You just don't know."This article originally appeared on Colts Wire: 2025 NFL draft: Colts 'looked into' Ohio State QB Will Howard.
