A report from MPs has highlighted significant career opportunities in the British film and TV industry. The "once-in-a-generation" report, led by Dame Caroline Dinenage, identifies prospects for sixth form students not only in acting, but also in roles such as writing, special effects, and costume design. The Culture, Media, and Sport Committee's film and high-end TV report also addresses concerns for independent cinemas facing closure.

Dame Caroline Dinenage, MP for Gosport and chair of the CMS committee, said: "The sheer range of jobs in the film and high-end TV industry, especially those behind the camera like special effects artists and costume designers, presents a fantastic chance for our sixth form students, whatever their skills and interests, to play a part." She also emphasised the need to support struggling cinemas at the heart of many communities. A call was made for government action to safeguard jobs in the industry and ensure the survival of cinemas.
