Inebriated driver crashes crane into IAF car on Sinhagad Road; no one injured

Pune: The Parvati police registered a case of rash, negligent and drunk driving against the driver of a crane that hit the official car of an Indian Air Force (IAF) officer at Mangirbaba Chowk, off Sinhagad Road, on Saturday night. The officer and his driver escaped unhurt, but the car going to the National Defence Academy (NDA) was left extensively damaged. The IAF driver, Krishnavir Rajendra Singh (35), lodged a complaint with the police on Sunday.

"We referred the crane driver for a medical test after detaining him. The test report confirmed that he was driving the heavy-duty vehicle under the influence of alcohol," senior inspector Nandkumar Gaikwad of the Parvati police said. "The car was heading towards NDA with the officer.



The crane driver crashed into the car from behind and damaged it. He neglected the safety of other motorists on the road," he said..
