Santo Domingo.- The National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (INTRANT) has officially launched a national public bidding process to select a new provider for issuing and renewing driver’s licenses, with an estimated value exceeding RD$8.175 million.
The existing contract, signed in 2020, ends in 2025. INTRANT is required by Law 340-06 and Decree 15-17 to carry out a new transparent and competitive tender process to ensure uninterrupted service.The agency emphasized that the financing will be entirely covered by users through standard service fees, without increasing current rates or generating state debt.
Payment will only be made for services rendered.INTRANT described the tender as a legal requirement and an opportunity to modernize the licensing system with greater transparency and technological improvements, urging public oversight of the process..
