A total of 25 firefighters battled the fire in Ferry Road on Thursday, April 17. A plume of smoke could be seen for miles around with the Sandbanks Ferry suspended for around four hours. Ferry Road was also closed off during the incident.

Relief crews from Shaftesbury, Westbourne, Ferndown and Hamworthy also attended. Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service was called to the scene at 2.
35pm. The incident was scaled back at around 6.30pm with the fire extinguished by around 7pm.
Giving an update on Friday morning, the fire service said: “A crew from Swanage are currently on scene dampening down remaining hotspots. “ An investigation into the cause will take place when it's safe to do so.”.
