The iPhone 17 Pro is being tipped to get some noticeable upgrades this year but the display is unlikely to see many changes. Apple is supposed to be making big changes to the iPhone 17 Pro series this year but the company has some bad news if you were looking to pick the variant when it launches. The iPhone 17 Pro was reportedly going to feature an anti-reflective panel like the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra but it seems the company has cancelled those plans for the upcoming model.
The new plans from Apple have been shared in this report via a tipster named Instant Digital this week. No Display Upgrade For iPhone 17 Pro: But Why? Apple had big plans to make the iPhone 17 Pro series its first to feature this display feature but the tipster says Apple was not happy with the results from the test and the pace at which the coating was getting added to the iPhone display. Both reasons seem to have compelled Apple to change its strategy for the premium variants and shelve it probably for the future iPhone Pro models.
The slow process of adding the coat meant Apple would be facing big challenges while manufacturing the units, and with its numbers in millions, the company cannot afford any issues or delay in shipping the units to the market. Funny thing is, Apple already has the nano-texture display available with the iPad Pro and the MacBook Air/Pro models, so the company could make lives easy and just use the same coating for its iPhone 17 Pro variants as well. However, the tipster doesn’t say anything related to that in plans, which hints at the company shelving the display upgrade at least for the 2025 iPhone Pro models.
So it seems Samsung will once again have the upper hand over its rival at least with the special display that not only limits reflection but also has a nice sheen on the screen..
