Temperatures are set to shoot up to 23C in Ireland this week, but Met Éireann have warned of some showers before the May bank holiday weekend. Although temperatures will be initially warmer, with the mercury set to reach around 22C on Tuesday before hitting a high of 23C on Wednesday, the weather is set to turn cooler from the northwest through Thursday and Friday. While there will be a few possibly heavy and thundery showers in the afternoon on Wednesday, the day will mostly be dry - with any showers or thunderstorms to die away by the night.
Thursday will start out mostly cloudy with patchy rain and drizzle, but clearer, sunnier conditions will spread from the northwest for the afternoon, and Friday will be cooler and cloudier overall with a few light showers but some bright or sunny breaks at times too. High pressure will remain the dominant feature for the weekend, bringing generally dry and settled conditions with variable cloud amounts and sunshine. Temperatures look set to remain close to or slightly above the average for early May.

Saturday Dry and bright to begin on Saturday with sunny spells, but cloudier conditions in the north and northwest will gradually spread southwards over the country through the morning and afternoon with a few spots of light rain or drizzle across the northern half of the country. It'll stay dry further south with the best of the sunshine here, although it does look like it will brighten up in most places during the evening.
Highest temperatures 13C to 17C in light to moderate northeasterly breezes. Rest of the Bank Holiday weekend High pressure will remain the dominant feature bringing generally dry and settled conditions with variable cloud amounts and sunshine.
