It's not going to be a surprise if Wrexham AFC promotion chase goes down to wire

IT won’t be a surprise if the promotion race goes down to the wire but it promises to be a huge weekend in the quest for a top-two finish in League One. Wrexham have a slender one-point advantage over Wycombe Wanderers but Stockport County and Charlton Athletic are also still in the running for runners-up spot behind Birmingham City to go straight up to the Championship. With four games remaining, the second automatic promotion spot won’t be decided over the Easter weekend when the rivals each have two games in the space of four days.

But it is a chance for Wrexham to make their move, with today’s home game against lowly Bristol Rovers followed by Monday’s trip to play-off outsiders Blackpool. Wycombe have it tougher with matches against eighth-placed Bolton and high-flying Charlton, but recent results have shown that no matches are easy. The Reds’ destiny remains in their own hands and come 5pm on Monday, the league table will hopefully make even better reading with just two fixtures left.
