Bradley Walsh has bravely opened up about a health condition that has impacted his appearance, after viewers noticed a change in July 2021. The much-loved host of The Chase spoke on This Morning, revealing: "People don't realise I have seriously bad blepharitis. I have to take one pill a day for it or I really struggle.
" He also mentioned an upcoming eye operation. Addressing comments about his looks, he said, "So many times, people have commented on how I look. But they don't realise.
If I take medication though, I'm fine," hinting at the hidden struggles. Without treatment, blepharitis can cause issues such as cysts or conjunctivitis. Just a year before, Bradley made significant lifestyle adjustments after facing a heart disease scare, similar to what led to his own father's passing at 59.
Now at 61 years old, Bradley has taken steps towards better health to avoid his father's fate. During a conversation with The Sun on Sunday, he candidly talked about this life-changing period, saying: "I had a hang-up because my father, Daniel, died at the age of 59. I had it in the back of my mind that I just had to get past my dad's age.
So turning 60 was a bit of a milestone." Reflecting on the difficult time, he revealed: "I was 33 when he passed away. I'd just done the Royal Variety Show performance which helped launch my career, but my dad died from heart failure two weeks after that and never got to see it.
" Bradley also offered a frank view of his personal health issues, discussing the genetic high cholesterol passed down from his mother Margaret. He shared details of his condition, saying: "I'm not on statins but what my heart guy said was: 'Look, Brad, if you start training, all that (cholesterol) will drop. You need to get fit'.
"I was a time bomb. I was quite lucky in regards to the calcium test but my doctor said I produce too much cholesterol. It's a silent killer," he added.
This eye-opening moment spurred the beloved TV presenter to adopt a healthier lifestyle, with Bradley shedding 10lbs following an alarming wake-up call just before the COVID-19 lockdown..
