Read More After their respective superhit dramas, South Korean stars IU and Byeon Woo Seok have joined forces as the leads of a new K-drama titled Wife of a 21st Century Prince. Get ready for a royal romance like no other, as the makers of the upcoming romantic show have recently shared key details about the plot, cast and broadcast schedule. The series, set to bring together IU and Byeon Woo Seok in a love story filled with twists, is scheduled to premiere on MBC in the first half of 2026.
The K-drama will air on Friday and Saturday till its conclusion. According to a post shared by the broadcasting company on Instagram on April 21, Wife of a 21st Century Prince will also feature Noh Sang Hyun and Gong Seung Yeon in key roles, in addition to the leads. The show’s executive producer, Kang Dae Seon, mentioned in a statement that Wife of a 21st Century Prince would stand out from the rest in the same genre due to its “fresh material, charming characters, and a solid, well-constructed storyline.
Moreover, the makers also shared that the drama had been under development for three years before they zeroed in on the most suitable script. Speaking of IU and Byeon Woo Seok’s upcoming drama, the story will be set in an alternate version of Korea, where the country remains under a constitutional monarchy, and will tell the story of two individuals, both rich in different ways but missing something essential in life. IU will take on the role of Sung Hee Joo, a chaebol heiress born with beauty, brains, and wealth.
The second daughter of the family that owns the country’s largest conglomerate, Hee Joo, has always been at the top. But the only problem in her life turns out to be her “commoner" identity.
