Jack Black choked up while reminiscing over his heartfelt meeting with Love on the Spectrum ’s Tanner Smith. The beloved dating show has captivated viewers with its cast’s shocking Hollywood ties and heartwarming relationships . While the majority of the stars found love during the third season , a couple fell short.
South Carolina native Tanner Smith was one of the unlucky ones, but he didn’t seem to be too upset about his romantic losses, as it paved the way for a surprise meeting with one of his favorite actors. While recently appearing on The Kelly Clarkson Show, the reality star officially got to meet Jack Black, whom he has previously gushed over and even proclaimed himself as his biggest fan. Once the actor surprised him on stage, the two ran towards one another and embraced ecstatically.
During the touching moment, Tanner said, “Jack, Jack. I’m so glad I get to finally meet you!” “This is the best day of my life!” he added. Weeks after the two met, Jack spoke about the exciting moment while appearing on Amy Poehler's podcast Good Hang.
The actor started off by mentioning that his sons, Samuel and Thomas, originally got him to watch the Netflix series. He said they "love Love on the Spectrum.” He was “looking for ways to connect with my boys” and decided to watch it with them.
He quickly fell in love with the stars, especially Tanner. Shortly after his initial viewing, he sent a video to the reality star praising his work. The clip was broadcast in April of 2024, when Tanner first appeared on the talk show.
Just before the third season was going to be released, the actor sent another video to Tanner, but Kelly’s team thought it was time for them to meet in person. Black said. "And I was like, yeah, this sounds really great .
.. It was long overdue that we meet in person.
" The actor admitted he unexpectedly got “emotional” over the meeting. "I almost started crying," he confessed, before getting choked up. The recollection of the moment put Jack right back into the face-to-face interaction with Tanner as he needed a moment to gather himself.
"We were hugging, there was so much love," he went on. The actor said that it will not be the last time the two cross paths. “To be continued,” he concluded.
"I gotta get with him — we have a plan to do some workouts.".
