Jail for Peterborough man who tried to use Pot Noodle lid to steal vodka from Sainsbury's

A man who tried to use a Pot Noodle lid to steal alcohol from a Peterborough supermarket has been jailed. Kyle Genower, 28, entered Sainsbury’s, in Bretton, on 14 April, and attempted to use the foil lids from two Pot Noodles to cover security tags on two bottles of vodka.

He was confronted by a member of staff, who took the bottles off him. Genower, of no fixed address, was arrested four days later after threatening to stab staff at B&M, in Boongate, with a used needle and stole almost £150 worth of goods. He was jailed for 16 weeks and ordered to pay £100 in compensation after he admitted nine offences at Huntingdon Magistrates’ Court on Monday (21 April).



PC Josh Holmes, who investigated, said: “No one should fear violence or be intimidated while at work, and I would like to thank those involved for reporting it to us.” The offences admitted by Genower were: Theft of various items worth £201.15 from B&M, Boongate, on 8 February Theft of various items worth £54.
