Since coming to Boston as the third overall pick in the 2016 draft, Jaylen Brown has done nothing but win playoff series and has one championship ring to show for it. After the Celtics won their first round series against the Orlando Magic, Brown tied Tommy Heinsohn for most series wins in franchise history, with 17. When the Celtics won the 2023-24 NBA Championship last season, Brown was named the Finals MVP as Boston hoisted their 18th championship trophy in franchise history.
Even with his record tying feat, Brown is not looking at any personal accolades, and said his only focus is on continuing to win. Speaking to the media after the Celtics closed out the Magic in five games, Brown said he doesn't take any feat for granted, but his eyes remain on the prize of bringing in another championship to the organization. "That's crazy, I don't take none of it for granted," Brown told reporters following the Game 5 win over Orlando.
"This is my ninth season and eighth playoff run, I don't take any of it for granted. To be able to be in the midst of some of the most winningest players in this franchise, with a lot of upside still in front of me, I'm very grateful. I'm excited to move on to the next round, I'm excited to keep adding to that legacy.
Here in Boston, it's about winning, it's not about just getting out of the first round." Since coming to the franchise nine years ago, Brown has been a key part of building a winning culture with the Celtics organization. Getting the first round series win over the Magic is a good start, but for Brown, Jayson Tatum, and the rest of the Celtics team and coaches, they're just getting started in these playoffs this year.
