Birth: January 27, 1983 Death: April 27, 2025 Jeffrey Winthrop Leibert OBITUARY Jeffrey Leibert, 42, of North Port FL and previously of Farmington, CT, passed away in the early morning hours of April 27th 2025 after a strong 2 year battle fighting extreme mental illness. Jeffrey was born January 27, 1983 in Hartford CT to Herbert and Susan Leibert. He attended Roaring Brook Elementary School (Class of 1994), Irving Robbins Middle School (Class of 1997) and Farmington High School (Class of 2001).
Jeffrey also worked as the front receptionist at the Farmington Town Hall from May 2002 until May 2005. Since he was a little child, he was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome but very high functioning. Due to extreme difficulties and having no friends in his life, no siblings, no father most of his life, and no relatives caring about Jeffrey other than his mother, he would turn to other coping skills which would be police, fire, ems being one of the few people who would be so knowledgeable in the switches, lights and sirens and radio programming down to each vehicle specifically.
Although outdoing his welcome sometimes, he grew on others after time. Only close people to his life knew how much public safety radios meant to Jeffrey, having a VHF and UHF in his vehicle, and his house desk covered in every current Motorola portable programmed to reach any agency in Hartford County and Litchfield County. And one secret Jeffrey never revealed to anyone which he kept very private, was being able to generate the fire pager tones and siren tones from his radios using the Quick Call II Encoder which only Farmington dispatch and LCD dispatch had at their console, and again because his knowledge was so extensive with positive activations when tested.
The family would like to extend a very well thank you to Donald Antigiovanni of the Farmington Volunteer Fire Department for all his personal time he spent with Jeffrey that he never had to do showing him around when others left him stranded. After moving to Florida, Jeffrey started becoming very attracted to Sporcle. Sporcle is a trivia website online.
He joined in 2016, and has played over 530,000 quizzes. There are over a million users in the world, and he was # 4 because he is so dedicated to being on there all the time. Jeffrey leaves his mother Susan who is in hospice care and meant everything to him, his father Herbert who passed away in 2005, Aunt Patricia Feiner and her husband Edward Arkin of Somis CA, cousins Richard and Joyce Leibert of West Hartford, CT and their 3 daughters Debbie Kritzman of West Hartford CT, Cheryl Mahoney of Avon CT, and Sarah Williams of Simsbury, CT.
Jeffrey also leaves his deceased uncle Manuel and his deceased wife Shirley. And lastly the most important person in Jeffrey’s life; life coach, care taker for the last 18 years of his life, Patrick Smith of Venice FL, his wife Jennifer and son Dustin Smith of Punta Gorda FL, daughter Marisa Morris and her husband Jaron of Coral Springs FL. The family would like to thank the North Port Police Department for their help dealing with Jeffrey for the last few years and especially Officer Corey Linser who has dealt mostly with Jeffrey’s situations.
Jeffrey will be buried at Beth El Cemetery, 51 Jackson Street, Avon CT next to his dear father and soon his mother. No time or date has been set because this event happened very unexpectedly. For further information on the upcoming funeral arrangements and/or ways to help out the family, please contact James DiPace of the Avon Volunteer Fire Department or Donald Antigiovanni of the Farmington Volunteer Fire Department.
