April 5, 1934—April 4, 2025 Jenaro Herrera passed away April 4, 2025 at home with family. Jenaro was born April 5, 1934 to Eliseo and Petra Herrera in Kimberly, Idaho. He graduated from Elko High School in 1952.

After high school Jenaro worked at Slim Olson’s and then for the US Postal Service. Jenaro was inducted into the United States Army in 1956 and was honorably discharged in 1958, but remained active in the Reserves until 1962. After the service he got a job with CP National as an Installer/Repairman, where he worked for many years.

Jenaro loved to go fishing with his buddies bringing the fish for our mother to cook. Our dad would set up a table which was an old door on two sawhorses for the guys to clean the fish. Jenaro loved his beer which got him in a few pickles during his lifetime.

Jenaro never married nor had his own children, but he did enjoy and dearly loved his nieces and nephews. Jenaro was a good son, brother, uncle and friend. If we needed anything he would help if he could.

Mom would only say she wanted something and he would tell her go get it he would pay for it. In 1963 Jenaro invested in the Cloud 9 along with his brothers Vic and Leonard. The idea was the three brothers were going to take turns bartending however Jen was a better customer than a bartender.

So, Vic and Len bought him out. Jenaro was drafted into the Elks (B.P.

O.E.) along with 11 others by Leo Puccinelli when he caught all at the Could 9 on a football Sunday afternoon.

Jenaro was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Victor, sister-in-law Phyllis and brother Danny. Sisters Isabell Pritchett, brother-in-law Minous Pritchett, Eloise Conlon, brother-in-law Dahl Conlon. And sister-in-law Betty Herrera and brother in laws John Ross, Jim Davis, Patrick McAnany and best buddies Francis Ross (Gooch) and Fry Reyes.

Jenaro is survived by his brother, Leonard Herrera and sister, Carolyn McAnany, (Bob Sherrill) as well as many nieces and nephews. We want to give a big thank you to Genesis nurses that come to check on Jenaro, especial Nurse Elaina. You were so kind and caring and came at a drop of a hat in our need.

Services will be April 25, 2025 at the Burns Funeral Home at 12 p.m. Reception will be held at Toki Onas at 1:30 p.
