Back in 2008, the Top Gear presenter bought the farm and seemingly pitched what would eventually become Clarkson's Farm to the BBC, his employer at the time. In an interview that has recently gone viral on TikTok, the former Grand Tour star said: "I pitched the farming idea to the BBC when I bought the farm in 2008. And all they were bothered about was where would it have been in May, where would the production office be.
"Because at the time, all they were bothered about was: 'You can't make anything in London', and I said we'll make it in London, 'Oh no, no' (they said). "And they didn't want it because the production office would be in London. "And I asked them two or three times, but they'd say: 'Can't you make it in the production office in Scotland, ' and I'd say no, not really, that'd be idiotic.
"And then, well, so it never got commissioned by the BBC because of some, well, I don't even know what they were trying to achieve." Fans of Clarkson were overjoyed to hear that the BBC ended up making that decision. One said: "This is evidence that everything happens for a reason.
This show wasn't meant to be on the BBC and I'm so glad as I don't watch BBC for reasons we all know about." Another replied: "For the best really! BBC big wigs would have ruined it with their meddling the same way they ruined Top Gear." Someone else simply stated: "Their loss is Amazon's gain.
" Prime Video has revealed that the globally popular show will return to the streaming service next month, one year after the third season. After presenting motoring shows Top Gear and The Grand Tour, alongside Richard Hammond and James May, Mr Clarkson swapped his high-speed lifestyle for the Cotswolds countryside. Taking place at Diddly Squat Farm in Chadlington, Oxfordshire, the show follows the 64-year-old as he encounters the trials and tribulations of agricultural life.
