Besides that, Palmer has divulged that there was a lot more about Owens that made him the right pick. “Mel is obviously super handsome.

He’s very charming, he’s very intelligent, he’s very successful,” the Bachelor host told Us Weekly at the Get Real house. “He had this incredible pro football career and transitioned into becoming a successful warrior. I think while he’s had a lot of success professionally, there have been some hills and valleys in his personal life.

” The press release added that after his career in football ended, Owens moved to Orange County, California , where he pursued a career in law, representing clients in sports-related injuries. Owens shares two sons with his first wife, as the release revealed, "While life took an unexpected turn with the passing of his father and the end of his marriage, Owens channeled his energy into being the best father he could be, focusing on raising his sons and coaching their extracurricular sports teams." The names of Owens' ex-wife and sons have not yet been publicly disclosed, nor have the circumstances of his father’s death, but more about the leading man will likely be revealed in the coming weeks.

“The tragic passing of his father, he went through a divorce —I think oftentimes you find out about somebody’s character when they go through tough, difficult times and it shifted all his focus and attention to raising his two boys,” Palmer added to Us Weekly. “He really became this devoted father, he put so much energy into them.” DON'T MISS: The Golden Bachelor may have a surprising Season 2 lead [INSIGHT] The Bachelor star Grant Ellis gives glimpse at life with potential show winner [REVEALED] Fans think Bachelor Grant Ellis will end up single after finale teaser [THEORY] Palmer and Owens have something in common, too, as the host is a former NFL quarterback-turned-Bachelor himself.

” Palmer also gave insight into what Owens is hoping to get out of his love journey: “I don’t think he’s necessarily looking for anything heavily extravagant. When you talk with him, what he misses most about being married and being in a relationship it’s just having and enjoying those simple everyday moments." "He’s just looking for companionship.

It’s just really pure and just listening to him talk about it is really moving. So I think he’s going to be a great lead. I think he’s a great choice to be our next Golden Bachelor.
