The Ministry of External Affairs declared on Wednesday that the treaty would remain suspended until Pakistan "credibly and irreversibly" ceases its support for cross-border terrorism. Hailed as a rare example of bilateral cooperation, the agreement weathered wars and crises until the Pahalgam attack. The Jhelum River incident has intensified an already volatile situation. Pakistan’s Foreign Office condemned India’s alleged actions, warning that the unannounced water release threatens lives and livelihoods in PoK.
