Joshua Zirkzee took a swipe at Manchester United fans who left Old Trafford early during their stunning 5-4 win over Lyon in the Europa League. The Red Devils produced a miraculous comeback on Thursday night , scoring three goals in the final minutes of extra time to advance to the semi-finals, where they will face Athletic Bilbao. However, when Lyon took control in extra time and went 4-2 up with just 11 minutes left, thousands of United supporters started heading for the exits in anticipation of the club's European journey ending.
Although some fans made it back to their seats before the turnaround, Zirkzee was not too fond of those who did leave prematurely and took to social media after the match. The Dutch international is expected to miss the rest of the season , with Rasmus Hojlund and Chido Obi now the only recognised centre-forwards at the club for the remainder of the campaign.
Zirkzee, who joined United from Bologna last summer, has endured a tough first season at Old Trafford, scoring just seven goals and providing three assists in 48 appearances. He last netted in the Premier League on December 1, registering a two-goal display in United’s 4-0 win over Everton.
