Judge Vesna Danilovic told N1 on Thursday that state officials have crossed a red line in terms of their pressure on the judiciary. The Administrative Court judge said the attacks and pressure exerted by elected officials on the judiciary are endangering the courts. “The message is that the red line has been crossed,” she said.
According to her judges and prosecutors have an obligation to speak up and added that she hopes their demands will be met. A group of some 600 judges and public prosecutors demanded a meeting of the countries top judiciary bodies by the end of the month to discuss the state of the judiciary. She said that the legislative and executive branches have been in a kind of symbiosis over the past few months.
“Only the judiciary has been left and is being pressured through inappropriate, aggressive statement from members of the legislative branch and the president of Serbia,” she said..
