Kajol received the Late Raj Kapoor Special Contribution Award from Maharashtra. The actress mentioned that her mother Tanuja also won this award. Kajol just added another prestigious feather to her already glowing cap! The actress has been honoured with the Late Raj Kapoor Special Contribution Award, a top state award from Maharashtra.
Joining her on the winners’ list this year are Mahesh Manjrekar, Anupam Kher, and Mukta Barve. Reacting to the big win, Kajol said, “Receiving this award is truly humbling. Mr Raj Kapoor was a pioneer whose work shaped Indian cinema.
And, till today his characters and music are taken as examples for most scripts that are written. To be associated with this legacy is indeed a privilege and what makes it even more special is the fact that my mother [Tanuja] also has received this award!" Raj Kapoor, the original showman of Indian cinema, gave us classics like Awara, Shree 420, and Mera Naam Joker, and his impact still echoes through generations of filmmakers and actors. It’s only fitting that someone like Kajol, who has charmed us for decades with powerhouse performances in films like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, and My Name Is Khan, would receive an award tied to his legendary legacy.
On the work front, Kajol shows no signs of slowing down! She’s gearing up for her mythological horror film Maa, hitting cinemas on June 27, and will also be seen in Sarzameen, a thriller co-starring Prithviraj Sukumaran and Ibrahim Ali Khan. Plus, buzz has it she’s part of the action-thriller Maharagni – Queen of Queens as well. On the personal front, Kajol’s mother, Tanuja, is an actress, while her father Shomu Mukherjee was a film director and producer.
Her younger sister, Tanishaa, is also an actress. Kajol and her husband Ajay Devgn have two kids – Nysa and Yug..
