A mob of men allegedly assaulted a 38-year-old woman outside a local mosque in Karnataka's Davanagere city after her husband filed a complaint against her at the mosque following a domestic dispute. The whole incident outside the mosque last week was recorded on camera. The video went viral on social media, sparking massive outrage.

The police have arrested six accused in the case, India Today reported. The victim, identified as Shabina Banu, works as a domestic helper. According to the police, she was at her home on April 7 when her relative Nasreen came to visit.

During the visit, a man named Fayaz also arrived, and the three went for a short outing before returning home. Shabina took her medicine and lay down to rest. Nasreen, who had initially said she would leave, ended up staying at Shabina's house along with Fayaz.

When Shabina’s husband, Jameel Ahmed, returned later and found Nasreen and Fayaz at the house, he became upset and took the matter to the Jama Masjid in Bengaluru’s Tavarekere, filing a complaint against his wife, her relative, and Fayaz. On April 9, two days after the complaint, the mosque summoned all three individuals. Upon their arrival, Shabina was attacked by a mob of six men armed with sticks and pipes, leaving her seriously injured.

The accused have been identified as Mohammad Niyaz (32), a driver; Mohammad Gauspeer (45), a scrap dealer; Chand Basha (35), a sugarcane juice vendor; Dastagir (24), a bike mechanic; Rasool T R (42), a fisherman; and Inayat Ullah (51), a local resident. All six were arrested shortly after the video of the assault circulated online. The police officials have filed charges against them, including conspiracy, assault and attempted murder.
