Edward Short's Chesil Cliff House, labelled as the 'saddest-ever' Grand Designs build, subjected him to a gruelling experience, financial turmoil, and resulted in the end of his marriage. The construction spanned 12 years and exceeded the budget by £7million. As the long-standing host of Grand Designs, Kevin had a front-row seat to the drama and has now shared insights into what truly mattered amidst the harsh North Devon cliffs.
Despite the fixation on the doomed project over the years, Kevin, speaking via Zoom from his own impressive abode, clarified to the Daily Star: "That film was about far more than sadness. In fact it investigated a whole range of human emotions, not least humility and envy, greed. It was a film about overreaching and about hubris, more than anything else.
