said Friday it has opened a new youth information technology (IT) education center in Ivory Coast as part of an initiative to promote digital literacy and youth empowerment in developing nations. The center in Bingerville aims to address limited access to IT education in the West African country by offering a six-month curriculum, consisting of four months of basic digital literacy followed by two months of specialized training, through June 2027. It is part of the South Korean automaker’s Green Light Project (GLP), launched in 2012 to offer a range of programs and infrastructure to communities in need across various sectors, including economy, education, health care and environment.
A ceremony to mark the center’s opening was held Wednesday, with the attendance of Moussa Diarrassouba, deputy minister of family, Jeon Soo-jin, consul of the Korean embassy, and Kia executives. Kia has established schools, health centers and vocational training facilities through its GLP initiative in 15 countries, including in Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Albania and Vietnam, benefiting approximately 1 million people.
