Filer’s Bryce Thomas shot a 72 to win the boys individual title, while Kimberly occupied second through fourth. Solyn Strout was runner-up with a 74, while Cade Garey shot a 75 to finish third and Ethan Ward shot a 76 to finish fourth. Wendell’s Jarett Borges shot a 78 to finish fifth.
Kimberly finished first in the boys team competition with 311 strokes, 10 strokes ahead of Wendell. SOFTBALL 5A Burley 10, Canyon Ridge 3 (Game 1) Burley’s Ady Olmos hit a solo home run and struck out 13 across seven innings. Olmos allowed seven hits, three runs (two earned) and three walks.
Brooke Mabey and Kate Hege led Burley with three hits while Olmos, Aaliyah Olmos, Abby Noble and Mahri Robins added two hits. Audrey Wood led Canyon Ridge with four hits in the leadoff spot while Ella Clark and Megan Kennedy notched two hits. Burley 17, Canyon Ridge 6 (Eight innings, Game 2) Burley entered extra innings tied 5-5 before it scored 12 runs in the top of the eighth.
Burley’s Ady Olmos led with three hits and four RBIs. Mabey and Paetynn Ramirez added two hits. Burley’s Taylin Beck struck out 10 across seven innings.
Beck allowed 11 hits, five earned runs and three walks. Canyon Ridge’s Harleigh Slagle hit a solo home run as she finished with two hits. Wood, Clark and Cale Carpenter also earned two hits.
Burley (8-8, 6-2 Great Basin Conference) will visit Mountain Home at 3 and 5 p.m. Thursday.
Canyon Ridge (1-13, 1-9 GBC) will visit Minico at 3 and 5 p.m. Thursday.
Twin Falls 14, Jerome 13 (Game 1) Jerome’s rally fell short despite two runs in the bottom of the seventh. Twin Falls pressured Jerome with two runs in the top of the seventh to take a 14-11 lead. Twin Falls’ Makenzie Hudson smacked a three-run home run in the third inning, which gave the Bruins an 8-4 lead.
Libby Torgrimson led the Bruins with three hits. Hudson, Molly Hodge, Olivia Thompson and Bri Holcomb added two hits. Jerome’s Emma Allen hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh.
Sawyer Garrard led Jerome with four hits. Peyton Thompson helped Jerome with three hits while Briauna Robinette and Kourtney Harris added two. Jerome 15, Twin Falls 15 (Game 2) The game was called after seven innings because of darkness.
According to the softball rules page from the Idaho High School Activities Association, ‘If weather or darkness causes a tied game to be called, such game shall be considered a suspended game and shall be continued from the point of suspension at a later time.” Jerome’s Abigayl Hinton hit a solo home run in the fifth inning and Ellie Helmer hit a solo home run in the third inning. Garrard went 3-for-6 with four RBIs.
Harris recorded two hits with two from Allen, Helmer, Hinton, Peyton Thompson and Zada Larsen. Harris struck out five in a complete game. She allowed 13 hits, 15 runs (nine earned) and three walks.
Hodge added a two-run home run in the top of the fifth and Hudson added a two-run home run in the third inning. Hodge and Hudson led with three hits. Hadley Fowler, Torgrimson and Braylin Iverson secured two hits.
Twin Falls (12-9, 9-0 GBC) will visit Wood River at 11 a.m. and 1 p.
m. Saturday. Jerome (11-6, 5-2 GBC) will visit Wood River at 3 and 5 p.
m. Thursday. Wood River 10, Mountain Home 0 (Five innings, Game 1) Wood River’s Makinzie Nelson tossed a three-hit complete game as she struck out six.
Nelson allowed three hits and four walks. Emmalese Nilsen led the offense with two hits and three RBIs. Hadley Elbsree and Nelson also collected two hits.
Wood River 18, Mountain Home 8 (Five innings, Game 2) Wood River’s Paityn Nelson struck out three in a complete game. She allowed 12 hits, eight earned runs and a walk. Paityn Nelson and Nilsen led with two hits.
Wood River (9-11, 6-2 GBC) will host Jerome at 3 and 5 p.m. Thursday.
TRACK AND FIELD Carey, Camas County, Hansen, Murtaugh and Shoshone @ Butte County’s Fred Simpson Invitational Carey girls boasted the highest finish among Magic Valley teams as they shared runner-up (with Ririe) with 94 points.
