Kingfisher claim men’s open, women’s runner-up

THE Soaring Kingfisher were in a class of their own during the POM Corporate Volleyball Competition Super League Challenge during the Easter weekend. In the men’s open division Grand Final, it was an all Kingfisher affair with both Team 1 and 2 playing off, while in the women’s open division, Kingfisher faced off against the Fearsome Sharks in the grand final. Team 2 won the men’s title (3-2) in a five-set battle between teammates, while in the women, the Sharks gobbled up the latter 3-0 in a one-sided grand final.

Team Manageress Andree Illa said they made it all happen in a week through teamwork coupled with good team spirit. “We actually don’t know each other very well, but only in the space of a week we made it happen with the uniforms, and everything,” Illa added..
