Peshawar - A Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was signed between the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rural Economic Transformation Project (KP-RETP), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (KP-TEVTA), and the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Peshawar to promote economic growth and empower the youth of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The ceremony, held at the Institute of Mechatronics, UET Peshawar, was attended by Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Industries, Abdul Karim Tordher, as the chief guest. The MoA was signed by Arif Ullah Awan, Project Director KP-RETP; Mansoor Qaisar, Managing Director KP-TEVTA; and Prof.

Dr. Qaisar Ali, Vice Chancellor UET Peshawar. The signing was witnessed by key officials, including Fernanda Thomaz Da Rocha, Country Director for Pakistan at the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), and Ghulam Nabi Mari, IFAD Coordinator.



KP working on strategy to uplift universities: Afridi The IFAD-funded initiative aims to train 60,000 youth in vocational, technical, and entrepreneurial skills, focusing on five thematic areas: technical and vocational training, entrepreneurship, emerging technologies, digital literacy, and soft skills. The project places special emphasis on increasing youth and women participation for inclusive economic growth. Abdul Karim Tordher commended the initiative, emphasizing its role in equipping the youth with the skills needed to thrive in the competitive job market and contribute to the province’s economic growth.

He also highlighted the potential of green sectors like pine nut, wild olive, honey, tobacco, and food processing, which could benefit from such training programs. Ms. Fernanda Thomaz Da Rocha praised the collaboration, stressing its impact on youth upskilling and women empowerment in rural KP.

She said the initiative would create significant opportunities for young men and women to either secure jobs or start their own businesses.
